Happy New Year! This new blog is my New Year's resolution. I have spent the past year working on my First Grade Whimsies blog but thanks to Teaching Blog Traffic School (TBTS) I have decided to revamp. I actually only made it through Charity's lesson 3 before I started reconsidering. Reason #1 - Have you ever googled first grade blogs? There are a million! Seriously, I don't know how I could make mine stand out from all the great ones that already exist. Reason #2 - I definitely don't want to stay in first grade forever. I love it and all...but I really am dying to try 5th grade at some point. I just think I'm the kind of girl that needs a change once in a while. So why The Research Based Classroom? It's what I like to do - take research and put it into practice in the classroom. It's where my heart is right now. If I could just bring the perfect Ph.D. program closer to my home, I was a little younger and just a little more willing to go into student loan debt again, then I would definitely be applying and heading toward the university environment. But it's not and I'm not. So it's about time that my blog matches more of what I try to do. Don't get me wrong, First Grade Whimsies was representative of my classroom but maybe not so representative of my teaching ideals. So welcome to The Research Based Classroom blog. It's not much to look at right now, but hang in there with me while it grows.
